The YJ510 is a compound torque converter. Unlike standard single-stage torque converters, its stator is mounted on a one-way clutch, allowing it to automatically alter fluid flow direction based on operating conditions. At low speeds and under heavy loads, the stator remains stationary, enabling torque multiplication; at high speeds, the stator rotates freely, shifting the unit into a fluid coupling mode that minimizes hydraulic losses and enhances transmission efficiency.
